We are Here to Help You Thrive!

Jacqueline Allen, L.Ac., Dipl. OM, MSOM

"I was introduced to Acupuncture during one of my own personal healing journeys. After being told surgery was my only option to cure a tennis elbow injury, I knew at 24 years-old that there had to be another way. Acupuncture has not only healed me physically, but has also awakened a whole new world of mental, emotional, and spiritual growth within me. I was born feeling my innate connection to Earth and Sky and as a little girl I always spoke the phrase, “things are infinitely big as they are small.” Finding this medicine, echoed my own soul’s whispers back to me within its ability to tend to one’s being as fully as the Earth tends to her children. Traditional East Asian Medicine treats each individual as the whole, complex, and unique person that they are, and I love sharing this holistic medicine with my community. Before moving to Santa Fe, NM to complete my Master of Science in Oriental Medicine degree, I apprenticed for two years in an acupuncture clinic in Leadville, CO and I have since been fortunate enough to find continued mentorship beyond the clinical training my school provided. My treatment style is informed by all of my teachers that I have studied with since I began this journey, along with my continued self-cultivation and immeasurable passion for this medicine.

When I’m not treating, teaching, or space holding, I find solace in being active outside and observing the natural cycles of Earth and remembering my interconnectedness with all there is. This medicine is based on continued observation of the inherent patterns in the natural world, to inform us more deeply of our essential nature.“

Why Two Roots?

The “Two Roots” are the foundation of Traditional East Asian medicine theory - the cycles of Yin and Yang. We see these two forces alternately ebbing and flowing in nature and within our bodies, in every moment and in everything. Our understanding of all things can be observed through the lens of this relationship and this integral duality that make up an inseparable wholeness. The Chinese call these two forces Yin and Yang, and we call them Two Roots. They are two parts of one whole - one tree - neither can exist without the other: “as above, so below”. Throughout the seasons of the year, in the monthly sun and moon cycles, in day and night, and in each moment these two forces are dancing. In our breath and our heartbeats, we can see yin and yang naturally creating balance and harmony - allowing us to inhale and exhale, contract and relax. In Traditional East Asian Medicine we know that observing the state of these two forces is the foundation of understanding health and how that looks for each individual. In turn, it allows us to diagnose and treat disharmony that can lead to disease, pain, and stagnation by treating the root(s) of the problem.

“One root of the tree breathes, and the other root drinks water...”

Why Two Roots?

Watch the video above to explore the essence of our practice and the foundational energy behind the spirit of our work.

“The law of Yin and Yang is the natural order of the universe, the foundation of all things, mother of all changes, the root of life and death. In healing, one must grasp the root of the disharmony, which is always subject to the law of Yin and Yang.”
— Huang Di Neijing Suwen

Yin and Yang is a system of recognizing how to separate out patterns in our life while also relaxing to accept the overall whole and complete nature of everything that is.

We hope you enjoy Two Roots Acupuncture as much as we do and that it becomes a regular part of your healthy lifestyle, helping you to promote the balance and healing that you deserve.

“As above, so below, as within, so without”
— Hermes Trismegistus
